Huon Valley Veterinary Hospital

Being a vet at Huon Valley Veterinary Hospital (HVVH) means being part of a great team who all contribute to the smooth running of the day.  We are a practice servicing a large percentage of small animals with the occasional visitor from a farm. We also see wildlife, offering a mixed and diverse day.

HVVH is supported by North Hobart Veterinary Hospital (NHVH) and the option to work across both sites is available.  This is a fantastic opportunity for professional development, skill enhancement, mentoring and surgical exposure.  NHVH also houses the only CT scanner exclusive to animals in Tasmania and we offer patient transport between the clinics to be able to access these scanning services and undertake more advanced surgeries.

We appreciate the magic of building lifelong relationships with owners and their pets, and we provide a sustainable working life to ensure you can always bring your best.  We always focus on providing great veterinary care to our patients and have the team and equipment to support this.

HVVH & NHVH are supported by a local management group (Vetbiz) that enables the directors to focus in on their clinical team, supporting their wellbeing and facilitating a supportive and collaborative working culture.

We are flexible on days worked but your working week will be no more than 4 days.  Lunch breaks are paid and you will have access to a $5,000 (pro-rata) professional development allowance and 1 week (pro-rata) study leave.  We love ongoing learning!

If you have:

  • 2 years minimum experience as a small animal general practitioner,
  • a strong focus on building owner and pet connection,
  • a strong sense of team; and
  • appreciate a positive culture of kindness and respect

we would be thrilled to hear from you.

This role offers a lot of opportunity and as part of our recruitment process we offer the chance to talk directly to our teams, spend a day in our Hospital and see for yourself what it is like to work for us.
